Yes, so much more "hokey" than today's commercials featuring Toyota Telethons, an animated jackass knocking on your picture tube, sock puppet monkeys and rapping hamsters.
I can't remember the last time I watched a commercial that tried to sell a specific model. All center around "incredible financing deals" while trying to stimulate the dead brain cells of 90s Ritalin junkies.
Do you think we'll ever again see a Chevy commercial comparing the features of a Camaro to a Challenger or Mustang?

@lasuvidaboy true, the mid seventies GM cars were junk, the Vega should or maybe did have a class action lawsuit ... 7's7 were getting it better quality wise but still long way before getting even with the imports now..

First year of The Box...

Now THAT'S more like it! A simple, straightforward spot withoug all the glitz and gimmicks they have to throw in to get your attention nowadays! (And Jerry Orbach did a great job as Lumiere in "Beauty and the Beast," too!)

GM had to prove that their all-new full sized cars were well built. The 1977 were 1000 lbs less than the giant 1976 full-sized models and the '77 were far better built. Those 1977 cars were very tight and well assembled compared the the goodlooking but poorly-built though reliable 1976 models.

No corinthian leather ?

I miss the personality these cars had, and they were sooooooo comfortable to ride in, and a pleasure to drive. Today's cars are so cookie-cutter, eggs on wheels with zero pizazz.

Two '78 Chevys, a 1979 Pontiac and a 1977 Buick. Excellent cars. Comfortable, very reliable, and not bad on gas. I could, and did, put six people in them and do so comfortably; three were wagons, and they'd hold plenty. I have a 1991 Caprice now (new style,) and it's just simply not as good a car. They went the Jap route and cheapened it where they could, especially in the interior. It's not a "bad" car, 248k miles is pretty good, but it's not "as good" as it could've been. I'd like a 77-9 coupe

I have an '82 Impala with 88,000 actual miles and a 229 v6 engine. Toughest damn car I have ever had. It wil not die!
These (Along with Full Sized Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, and Buicks) Were some of the most die-hard, bulletproof reliable cars ever made.
