Those who lost loved ones at the Fort Hood Shooting in November 2009 are hoping the government will honor their memories with Purple Hearts. But the 13 victims won't be eligible until the shooter, Maj. Nidal Hassan, is declared an enemy of the United States.
Gretchen spoke to the mother of Private Michael Pearson, Sheryll Pearson, who is supporting a bill in both the House and the Senate that would ensure the victims and their families would receive the same benefits and honors as members of the military who were killed in combat overseas.
