Why does everyone compare the ak47 to the m16...a better comparison would be the ak74 and the m16.

My personal two cents-

Lighter-Yes

More Accurate- M16>Vz. 58>AK-47. M16 is most accurate, AK-47 least accurate (mainly because of how the sights were positioned)

More Ergonomic-Not Really. AK-47 and Vz. 58 have the same over-all shape

More Reliable-AK-47>Vz. 58>M16 AK-47 most reliable, M16 least

More Powerful-Yes. AK-47 and Vz. 58 are equals, but both more powerful than M16

Easier to Use-AK-47>Vz. 58>M16

Most importantly, your MISSION drives your gear choices.

No matter how much

For the same reason; no matter how much I like the M4, I'm not going to carry it with a indigenous force, all using AK's.

And I don't see many people using a Vz, unless they are issued it in the Czech Military.

So in conclusion for all of you playing at home, AK/M16 systems are the best choice for 99.99999% of people.

Vz. 58 is lighter than AK47.

Vz. 58 is more powerfull than M16.

Vz. 58 is much easier to use than both M16 and AK47.

And last, most important of all - Vz. 58 is way much cooler than both of these guns.

@b0n3z3z I commend you on posing your opinion, very well. I pretty well agree with you on most of them. What most people don't realize the difference in accuracy between the 3, is 5%; most shooters will NEVER notice the difference. Same with the reliability. If you know what the hell you are doing, neither the AK or M16 will fail you. If your a dumb ass you can break anything.....

SA 58 is the best in many things. This weapon will overcome both the M16 and AK 47 in anything. Since the Czech Republic is small and therefore SA 58 world knows so much.

I am using comps for sport shooting, for mil purposes I would use Noveske KX3 for urban and standard A2 flashider for field ops.

@Rastislav110 Compensators at first seem like a logical idea but have 2 general problems . To reduce the recoil the comp. strikes the rifle in a forward direction as well,just a split second after the recoil. While this may be good for the shooter its bad for any optics. Second, if the noise from the blast is loud , it gets worse by blowing part of the noise in a sideways direction, plus the burnt powder and gases stay near the shooter. Your friends will not want to shoot next to you.

@borecmichi Actually I've got a Vz.58 Military and I gotta say, its slightly less ergonomic than an AK. The magazine release on the Vz can only be operated on one side of the weapon. However, for left handed shooters, you can operate the magazine release with your trigger finger. But for a right handed shooter, the magazine release on an AK is more ergonomic. Then again, the mag well on the Vz is astronomically smoother than the AK.
