for those experiencing grinding noises and such explained in the video this is the repair used to replace the worm motor and how to do it
Causes of a bad worm motor consists of:
Worm Motor Replacement:
Causes of defective worm motor;

-Makes a Horrible Grinding Noise
-Doesnt guide the laser to move
the disc
Thus causing disc read errors at times
-Slows down The Game since the Laser
Is not moving as fast as is needs to

  • also, could it be the plastic piece is stripped? cause i greased up my worm motor cause it doesnt look bent, and when i put the plastic piece back on it, it only slides one way on the thread, and the other it strips. do you know where i can get a new plastic piece?

  • you should just replace the whole drive. and replace the back circuit of the drive to the new one. so you will start off will all parts

  • haha. just replace the whole drive. u can find a drive for $20 bucks then change teh back circuit.

    Well, my 360 makes the grinding noise when starting up sometimes, and suddenly stops being able to read two of my games while im in the middle of playing

    would you recommend me to open up my 360 and all that jazz to see if the worm motor is the problem? i'm afraid of damaging it more if i do this

  • I recommend just replacing the whole drive. so you start off with all new parts, to do this you have to just remove the back circuit from the old drive (Big green board) and put it to your new one. just make sure its the same model.

  • Hey there, I had the grinding error and a disc tray problem so took drive apart, fixed drive belt, wiped lens(as I didnt know it was the worm) then drive worked for 2 days then died so I bought a lens replacement(that just slots on the bars)

    Do you know any guides that show you how to put it on?

  • GUYS all i did was apply lithium grease to the worm motor that was already in the drive, so there was no need for me to buy another part... Thanks though lits a great drive lube xD

  • just bought a worm motor & some lithium grease for about £4 from ebay... hope it solves my drive issues... if not am buying a new drive for £15

  • THANKS I FIX IT BY REPLACING THE LENS AND THE MOTOR WITH MY OLD 1WHICH IS REALLY NEWER THAN THA 1 THAT WAS IN THERE ALREADY IT STILL MAKE A STRACTHIN NOISE BUT IT NEVER STOPS READING THA DISC AN I HOPEFULLY IT KEEPS WORKING...BY THA WAY MY DVD-DRIVE WAS A BENQ SO THIS METHOD SHOLD WORK WIT ANY OTHER DRIVE..THANKS AGAIN UR A PENNY SAVER AND PEACE AND LOVE TO YOU BRO GOOD LOOK!!!
