On Friday June 27, 2008 Earthrace set a new powered circumnavigation of the globe world record when it crossed the finish line at 14:24 CET at Sagunto, Spain. The record is 60 days 23 hours and 49 minutes.

In late 2009, the boat was renamed Ady Gil and joined the Sea Shepherd in fighting a war against whaling.

On Jan 6, 2010, the boat was destroyed after a Japanese whaling ship rammed into it during a whale war scrimmage. R.I.P.
