The Technological Institute of the Philippines or "TIP" is a private institution of higher learning in the Philippines which specializes in the traditional fields of engineering. TIP also offers courses in Architecture, Information Technology, Marine Education, Business Administration and Education. TIP was established by a group of educators headed by Engr. Demetrio A. Quirino Jr. on February 8, 1962. At present, TIP has two branches in Metropolitan Manila, TIP Manila and TIP Quezon City. The Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City (TIPQC) was recently granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The autonomous status, the highest and most prestigious recognition that CHED gives to an educational institution, is in recognition of TIPQCs exemplary performance shown in the provision of quality higher education, research and extension work. According to TIP President, Dr. Elizabeth Q. Lahoz, The granting of autonomous status to our school is, in a way, a recognition of all the hard work of the TIP officers, faculty and staff to give only the best to the student. TIPQC has two programs with Level III Reaccredited status (Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering) and six programs with Level II Reaccredited Status from the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (FAAP-PACUCOA). Most recently, FAAP-PACUCOA awarded Level III Reaccredited Status to the Electrical Engineering Program of TIPQC. The school is also a CHED COD in Computer Engineering as well as in Information Technology Education. The school's quality management system is certified under the international standard ISO 9001:2000 and earlier, to ISO 9001:1994, for 10 consecutive years now
