30777 + 35028 + 60019 All In One Day 09-12-08

The plan with this video was to catch 30777 Sir Lamiel's Cathedrals Express to Salisbury somewhere in West London and follow it to just beyond Woking and then double back for 35028 Clan Line's VSOE Xmas Luncheon Special. With that in mind we set up at Barnes, me next to the level crossing on the line to Richmond and my brother in the nearby park. After a while a cloud of white steam appeared in the distance and a loco rolled into view.....an A4. I assumed this was 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley standing in at the last moment for 30777 until it became obvious there was no train, only a support coach. It was 60019 Bittern being moved back to Alton after its Haywards Heath - Bristol excursion the previous Saturday. The A4 headed off towards Brentford and a few minutes later the N15 appeared, as did the inevitable class 450 unit.
At Brookwood the two locos were still only a few minutes apart but now the N15 was in front.
Crossing to Worplesdon, there was a 45 minute wait before Clan Line passed on its way to Guildford. A pathing stop at Guildford and the water stop at Shalford meant there was plenty of time to move across to Shere and the two bridges near the top of the climb from Chilworth.

Thanks for your comment. I don't quite understand your question but my brother provides additional material with a second camera and the whole lot is edited together afterwards.The only post production is a bit of colour correcting.

Once again, superbly edited to keep up the action - looks like a terrific day you had. Good to see little Worplesdon featuring, I used to live in the village, which is a fair hike from the station. Had many late night staggers home off the last train! Keep up to good work.

good video saw 60019 a few hours ago the advantages of living just 100 meters from the railway line, ive seen some stupid trespassing but the guy at 5:10 really does take the biscuit what the hell does he think his doing?!

This kind of filming must take alot of forward planning and getting the timings just right. I find it a difficult organising myself for a single excursion, let alone 2 and an oddball appearance lol.

I thought YouTube would be a waste of time for good quality steam videos until I came across your work. It is technically, logistically and culturally at a semi-pro level. Having 2 cameramen obviously helps - and they are both good! You have inspired me to share some of my work on YouTube, once I have transcoded the file sizes down a bit to upload them - but only my best efforts will be in your league. Terrific footage! - especially for winter conditions. I wish I'd known all that was going on last December, I live close to the stretch seen towards the end of the clip and would have been up there like a shot. I recognised the cutting between Chilworth & Shere before reading your description. It's about 10-15 min drive from me (Cranleigh).
