There's a huge disparity in ability of force users. Very powerful Sith or Jedi can pull some shit completely out of their asses because they are so attuned. It seems like 'luck' but its just them using the force to predict blaster shots and being able to block or evade them. Vader is much more powerful than Luke was then. Blocking blaster shots is elementary to most young Jedi. Luke was just untrained and inexperienced.
