  • Maybe this version of the band started in '69, but he original group was performing around '64-'65. I remember it well because I was in high school on the east side at that time.

  • GREAT!!!

  • @roge69charger Indeed they did. I love Wilson Pickett, but I have to stick with the original when it comes to this song.

  • Cannibal & The HeadHunters did it first! I still have the 45, before 1969, It came out around about 1965. I recall see them on a Murray the K, Show at The Brooklyn Fox, And, it was that time period. Then Wilson Pickett did it after them, Around 67.

  • @recovering16 Thanks for answering my question someone has told me Wilson Pickets was the original, but whichever its a great song!

  • @Usurped I think Cannibal and the Headhunters had the first, because that "nah, nah, nah" beginning, I understand was improvised by Frankie, lead singer, when he couldn't remember the lyrics. That catch beginning phrase brought them to the attention of the Beatles. Paul wanted the guys who sang the "nah, nah, nah" song to tour with them in America - which they did!!

  • like the keys in this! was this bands 60's version before or after Wilson Pickets recording?

  • Wilson High School Long Beach California

Two USC Song Leaders came from Wilson High

The Inge Sisters form the 80-90

    Great Site.

  • Wilson High of what city?

  • The Wilson HS cheerleaders of 1980 made an awesome performance to these lyrics. It was a crowd pleaser!
