Famous Studios Popeye the Sailor cartoon. One of several cartoons where Jack Mercer was absent for the recording session and therefore a replacement had to voice Popeye. I'm not sure who did the voice for this cartoon as Popeye's voice seems to be changing from cartoon to cartoon during Mercer's absence. In this one, Olive is trying to build herself a house, but Popeye and Bluto insist that they build the house for her (I know...sexist). What follows is of course a series of gags based upon Popeye and Bluto's dislike for each other.

    C. Martin Croker-Popeye

    Jim Cummings-Bluto

    Nancy Cartwright-Olive Oyl

  • @johnnieRad Just out of curiosity, where are these re-dubbed versions I am hearing about?

  • The part on 3:21 is funny

  • Bluto builds really messy

  • @s275ironman Three guesses...if C. Martin Croker is involved.

  • This came out in 1945.

  • Why doesn't Bluto just give up? If Popeye always wins, Bluto should just move out of town and leave them alone or find a girl that's not Olive!

  • fantastic! I like this cartoon

  • Nice!

  • love it!

  • LOL at 1:46 Popeye calls Bluto a faggot
