Bill's harmony vocals were incredible, and his drumming was always smokin' hot. I've heard it was he who came up with Perfect Circle off Murmur. Long live Bill Berry!

Berry was brought out earlier in the show and waved to the crowd, then he was coaxed back out on stage by MIke Mills to sing back up on "Radio Free Europe." After that he jumped behind the drums to play "Permanent Vacation." There is a post of his playing the song on here...this clip is actually after "Permanent Vacation," not "Radio Free Europe."

I miss Bill too. And absolutely - he was so much a part of the R.E.M. magic. I'm glad they have carried on though. Hope I get to see him live on stage again with them one day. Each time I see them on stage I hope he will walk on...

Maybe REM should have changed their name when Bill left the band. Kinda like Joy Division became New Order. He was so integral to the sound. I guess the record company wouldn't let them get away with it.

I agree with these comments. I reckon Bill brought something to the band which is now missing. The dynamic just isn't right anymore. Credit to the other three they are still producing good music, but the magic seems to have gone.

I think Bill Berry was a genius, sitting behind the drum set...
