@beasst94 i think they probably filled the sinkhole for mission space.
-
@FanMa5ter so why is that ride building still standing
-
@gibbain what about spaceship earth?

Oh Horizons, you struck so much inspiration into the hearts of all of your fans..
If we can dream it, we can do it!

I remember reading that they closed the ride due to a sinkhole that formed beneath it, probably causing structural problems.

I totally agree with you on this for the most part. I think one of the biggest problems though is that technology keeps advancing so fast now. EPCOT offered a fantastic and whimsical look at the future for a good ten or fifteen years, but now, so much of what used to be shown there is already here!

You know I can't see why they would close it. I mean look at the LINES!!! I do miss it though.

Wow, that song really takes me away. It's like Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt with horrible gas.

heh, i was thinking the same thing, the 'gap'! Yeah, 6 cars will do fine. :)
This video sends chills down my spine. Horizons was the my favorite ride at Epcot. I think out of all the EPCOT attractions, Walt would have loved this one. When I got old enough to wander the park without my parents I would go on Horizons over and over again. This really brings me back, I would kill to see it again. Mission space is just another pointless "thrill" ride without a message of hope for the future.

Mission Space and Test Track are good rides, but its too bad that there is no place in Epcot for the type of sedate, family oriented, animatronic heavy rides that Horizons and World of Motion represented.
