A dance devoted to Eliya (or Shibilya) the thunder deity of ancient karachay-balkarians. The dance is connected with militant and proud character of Karachay-Balkarian men.

Thanks) Well, Elya was the lightning deity in our culture and a divine warlord. This song means "Give the strength and spirit to our youth, who stands on path of warrior, Eliya. Blessed be by Elia". But, we are Muslims, Alhamdullillah and this performance is just depiction of old paganic culture...

We are Christians and the same thing, there are still pagan ways built into our tradition, I suppose they are encoded in our DNA - lol.

Believe it or not the name Elya is a common name in our Assyrian Communities, is this another amazing coincidence ? You never know next thing I know you might turn out to be my cousin lol.

@Qylych in turk literature, karacais and balkars are turkic-tataric nation. we can understand their language some verbs. what does karacais- balkars think about their nationality ? are they brother of azeris and tatars?
