Four foot shillelagh In the Shiner style. The Shiner style for shillelagh is unique among all other styles of Irish stick fighting in that it seeks to maintain as large a distance between opponents as is practical. Twice that of others. Holding the shillelagh by it's extreme end and striking from the maximum distance is the essence of the Shiner system.
this is great! i like the shiner style. seems like a very good idea to keep a large distance from someone intending to harm you and strike from afar. thank you.

This looks like a proper sport to me, two guys really trying to hit one another and not get hit themselves. Not like mainstream martial arts where you submit to a "teacher" and learn a bunch of traditional garbage that just doesnt work.

@Corvin26 Actually, it's the other way around. European longsword and dagger fighting techniques are based on this. Bataireacht goes back several thousand years, along with all the other Irish martial arts.

It was Bataireacht that gave life to modern hurling.
The celtic tribes trained young warriors with sticks to get them used to to handling swords.

It's Bata, an Irish martial art. It comes useful if you have to hit bad guys with sticks
