@jake011386 not at all. This bike really moves, and the throttle is really responsive. but if you dont ride like an idiot, you'll be fine

Nice! Thanks for posting... Question, I have a 09 xr with a V&H BW exhaust. The dealer dyno tuned it with the H-D race tuner. The headers get real hot. Also not much sooting in the tail pipe. Is this normal? My roadglide seems to run much richer and cooler. Not sure if this is normal or am I running to lean.

i really like the look or the xr 1200 but would it be consider a beginers bike?

what are the gains over the baseline? im not sure what the stock 90 hp equates to at the wheels. im more of a car guy so i dont know how much driveline loss occurs on a bike :)

Hi, Nice bike. The tail is the fibreglass for oem seat from freespirit? Thx.
Hi hitnmhard: It sounds like your XR is still running very lean even with the tuner fitted. Did your dealer check the AF ratio when adjusting the tuner?
The headers do get very hot anyway (especially at a standstill) but you can reduce this by running richer.

I don't kniow if it would be suitable for an absolute beginner, simply because it is a big heavy bike that can be awkward to manoevre for inexperienced riders. Power is OK but I think a lighter bike would probably be better to start with, something like a Kawasaki ER6 or Suzuki SV650 maybe?

The stock bike 'offically' makes 90bhp at the crank, which equates to around 72-78 at the rear wheel, although we have noticed that there can quite wide differences between identical stock bikes on the same dyno (as much as 6bhp each way!).
The biggest advantage of the exhaust change though is the loss of weight compared to the stock system. This exhaust weighs less than 4kg complete whereas the stock system weighs in excess of 16kg!
