Just testing the reflex and defensive response of a person when attacked by multi-directional hits and left hand pushes/punches/pokes.
Kicking and other methods of attacks were not included on this scenario. I firmly believe that it is harder to defend than to attack in martial arts, and the flip side is also true, that it is easier to attack than to defend, and one of the equalizer is to have fast reflexes, so that a person can recover from a fast or surprise attack , defend and then go into the offensive mode and finish the confrontation as soon as possible. I keep on telling my students, to NEVER start a fight except when protecting the innocent and the young and weak, or when you feel imminent danger to your life or your love ones life, BUT if and when you are in a fight you must finish it as quickly as you can . Regular training with or without a partner is one of the keys to improve your reflexes in whatever martial arts you are currently engage in .... Do not expect improvement without spending the time and effort ........
As they say in the computer jargon, Garbage in , Garbage out !! Meaning, you can only expect a good product or result if you put into it , good effort and enough time . Practice everyone ! Practice regularly ! Practice. Practice hard, bu practice hard, Safely ! Master Virgil
KimCebu ! The objective of the drill was for the student to develop his defensive responses, that means his primary job on this particular drill is to defend all the incoming strikes and left hand attacks. I want all my students to have that defensive reflex because first and foremost, It is harder to defend than to attack, in my humble opinion..... You can give a stick even to a 5 years old and you better know how to defend, when he/she starts swinging that stick at you ! To attack is easier !
