Can the roomba work of 18 volts using a 6V SLA batt and a 6V SLA or an 18V Drill Battery or is that too much? What is the voltage on the original roomba battery

less voltage means less sucking power... Im sure it can turn those wheels just fine but I cant imagine the weight to be any less. The bottom line is you downgraded.

just do the dam work, we know what a roomba looks like...

Hi. Thanks for your interest. Basically the only disadvantage of using SLA battery was the vacuuming time. Its shorter as compared to the original roomba battery. The achievable vacuuming time is about 45 mins.

have you tried using lipo batteries with this? what is the voltage cutoff of the roomba

Hi. I have not try Lipo battery because its expensive. I also not sure how long will it last. Where as for 12V SLA will last me for about 45 mins when the battery is brand new. Base on my measurement, the cut-off voltage for my Roomba is at 11.3VDC. Thanks.

Do you have to modify the Roomba electronics at all, or is it happy to run on the new battery?

Hi. Like I mentioned before, a small modification required. As you can see on the side of the Roomba vacuum cleaner power plug originally is for battery charging purpose. I removed the charging wire and connect the plug to battery terminal directly. So I can supply the power through this plug to Roomba. Enjoy..
