Now that GOOD STANDING accounts get UNLIMITED VIDEO LENGTH, I am starting a new series, called "Rockin' the Gauntlet", where I (try to) ride every public elevator and escalator at any given location. This will not replace the 10-minute Elevator Derbies, as those are for a challenge.
The Gauntlet today is Downtown Leominster, Massachusetts. In the process, I'd thought you might enjoy some walking views of the city.

There are some apartment and office buildings nearby, that were not ridden, because they are either not considered downtown, or are strictly private residences.
All went well, but there was one predictable fail, and that was the Red Cross Building.
As I was capturing the arcetecture of the original part of the Leominster Public Library, faintly audable, even on video, was the Librarian yelling "SIR!" in my direction. BUSTED! :) Was near the exit, so obviously, I just left, instead of gettting more archetecture views.
Due to the massive size of the original 1280x720p file, and my bandwidth limitations at home, this was down-converted to 720x480x15fps, to make uploading giant "Time Vampires" bearable (and far more likely to make it through). There are some tweaks that I can probably make to increase the quality some, in future runs.

  • QUICK! Trademark the name "Rockin' the Gauntlet" :)

Too bad I got that from a game show video. :)

  • What was the Red Cross fail?

  • @elevatorsonly

    It was locked.

It was a boring ThyssenKrupp anyway.

I would to loved to see that one stay original. It was a Dover classic, that did NOT have the traditional square backlit numbers, rather a dark backlit strip.

At least it was done decently. I am also glad the original Dover Buzz did stay.
