For a long time, i thought people were more concerned with the present I gave them rather than my presence at the event. I am learning that the best gifts have no monetary value.

  • good vid.

  • thank you.

  • Great video. I used to really struggle with feeling like I wasn't giving good enough gifts to my Mom, that I had let her down. Now I realize that my presence is a gift as hers is to me. I'm going to mention your video to my Mom when I chat with her on the phone this morning. I hope you have a blessed day!

  • Thanks paula. It pleases me that you are going to mention this to your mom.

  • You said Christmas instead of happy holidays. Where is your political correctness, tsk tsk LOL This is the first year in our married life that we aren't giving gifts. We are about to find out how much our grand kids appreciate our presence. I am holding my breath, and crossing my figers and toes.

  • rose, I think initially they may feel gyped but they will get over it. Kids get so much from their parents already. My mom is on a fixed income and she would end up going a year in the hole on credit card debt to buy gifts for my neices and nephews. I told her don't worry about it, it is not worth it to be in the hole for a year when they really don't care one way or another. So initially they will feel put out but then will settle into it.

  • Love this. Frame yourself 2/3 up instead of in the middle, maybe zoom in a bit and it'll be even better. Well done!

  • Thanks for the words of encouragement

  • i caught that, and am thinking about it. i haven't thought that of myself, but more that i want everything to be so epic and awesome, as if my gifts can bring real happiness. i know they can't, but i think that's what it is for me. i get really stressed out if i don't have the perfect gift. it's so stupid. anyway, i'm trying to be more present and i know that you're right - that's the real gift.

  • heather .. it is so simplistic when you think of it but so hard to put in practice. But I found when I had the need to give really big gifts that it was more for me than for them.
