This is Part 1, This is the hike beginning from the roadway parking area to the actual remnants of the Stute Family Homestead dating back to the 1800's
Part 1 is basically focused on the old hometead site. Due to time restraints,...I'll have to present this in 2 parts. Part 2 will be the hike from the homestead site up to "Big Hill" as it was called by the local people! Sunday was a day of rest, When friends & relatives would visit the Stute family. They would take them on a walk to the top of "Big Hill" With an elevation of 1050 feet & covered with hardwood trees that towers above the cropland valley below. On this trek to the Big Hill, I'll be showing footage of some of the farm land that was used to raise crops!

  • Real nice video...Good photography. I can't help but want to see a nice red barn and cows grazing out there. OOH! and a farmer laying under the spreader fixing the chain.

  • Thank You Ronnie! There use to be a barn there as well,...But is now long gone. LOL! OMG! You hit the nail on the head! That use to be a typical & sometimes rather common scene with the farmer working on the spreader chaindown on the farm! I've spent my share of time working on them as well! I don't even want to think of the time I broke the chain with a fully loaded spreader in the fall during the busy harvest season!,Yup! You got it! Had to unload it by hand one time! Made for a long day!

  • Another nice one Ken! I like those old homesteads.....around here they knock a lot of them down to farm.....or the wind knocks them down...lol...it's always so windy. Really nice place for a walk.....your lucky!

  • Thank You Rita! I realy love these places as well! Especially when you stumble onto unknown remnants of old buildings & rock wall fences in the middle of nowhere! We realy are lucky to be able to enjoy the outdoors like thia! That's why I've decided to share these places in Wisconsin with everyone! With people not having much money to spare these days, These places are a very low cost fun getaway!

So far I've only spent $25 on a park sticker, plus Gas money, & will usually pack a lunch etc.

  • I'd go to one of these places any day instead of the crowds and line ups. The last big thing I stood in a line up for was the Delirium-Cirque de Solei concert....hehe.....that was awesome, but I got tickets real early and got good seating.....right at the exit....LOL And once in a while I do enjoy the bright city lights.....but this is far more relaxing.

  • Agreed! Me too! Concerts are pretty good to go to! But for a nice getaway,...You can't beat places like this! I came across several people with their dogs along the way as well as others taking photos & just enjoying the fresh air! Everyone seemed cheerful! Nice people to be exact!

  • Thank You! He sure did ,...Didn't he?

  • LOL! About the only ones alowed to use quads are the DNR & their field maint. workers. Picnic,You betcha! AS I was walking down the old wagon trail. I topped a small hill to find a huge flat prarie area surounded by hills & forest!

I never would have imagined this place being hidden back in the hills! It's at the 7:32 timeframe. This was one of the actual fields that they grew crops on! This particular clip only shows maybe 1/8th of the whole prarie area! It was like being in Heaven for me!

  • Ah ha ha ha ha! Yup! Howdy neighbor!

I sure wish that I had scouted this site out many years ago! I would have loved to get footage & or photos of the old farmhouse that was torn down years ago! UGH!!!!!!

  • Ah ha ha ha ha! I had an electrical job to do with my Father today, So it looks like it'll be maybe tomorrow! I've got over 100+ video clips to go thru to get the right look as well as sound! Also, I've got some more scouting to do after work tomorrow. It looks like I've stumbled onto a few more sites that I knew nothing of that are nearby!
