Lucio Fulcis gory entry to the zombie film catagory is a tour de force of blood, guts and dead things that even today 28 years later stands as a text book example of splater cinema. Simple but effective it rises above most nasties in cinematic quality and is a fun, gutwrenching and bloody example of how a zombie film should be made.

  • Is zombie flesh eaters (the UK title) fully uncut? I've heard it's had some pre-cuts.. Can someone please tell me if it's the original, fully uncut version, or if I should order the region 1?

  • The shriek show 25th anniversary edition (region1) is the best version so I recommend you buy that anyway.

Anchor Bay resubmitted the film in 2005 and it was passed with 'previous cuts waived' though I'm not sure if that was from the UK cinematic release which had cuts already. I think it is uncut in the UK but as I say the US shriek show 25th anniversary edition is the best one anyway.

  • When I did media studies my teacher asked me who my favourite makeup fx guy was, expecting me to say Tom Savini or Rick Baker, but Giannetto De Rossi will always be mine. I consider him to be the best, while Savini was brilliant I don't think he ever go to the same level as Giannetto.

  • I have a European Blue Underground region 0 copy of this film, is this version totally uncut ?

  • The eye impalation scene is perhaps the most beautiful scene of that nature that exsists.

  • @mudman1881 Fair enough then, I had just never came across an uncut region 2 version other than the one inside the Box of the Banned. May I ask who distributed your version? I'm curious because I hunted high and long for one for a long time before finding the Box of the Banned so it would be nice to know. Cheers.

  • @Keith30403

    That's simply not true.

I have a UK uncut version of this film purchased off ebay!

  • Ive compared the uk version with the us version, and noticed one slight cut, the eye ball scene has one frame removed from the uk version. The one scene which there is a question mark about is the doctors wife being eaten the soundtrack jumps and it looks cut, this happens on every version ive seen, any answers?

  • I think that your comment about Fulci's direction of this film sums up perfectly how I feel about him as a director. On the surface, he would appear to be a complete hack, exploiting gore for gore's sake. However, there is something about his filmmaking that keeps drawing me back, it's completely involving. There was a definite talent there, to be sure.

  • Goblin make the best soundtracks. Good review lampy.

  • Interesting note for trivia buffs... Tisa Farrow may look familiar to some viewers. This is because she is actually the look-a-like sister of actress and former wife of Woody Allen, Mia Farrow, known best for the horror classic, Rosemary's Baby.

  • i LOVE this movie
