Part 6 starts near Cock-of-the-rock Lodge on the Manu Road and then heads down towards Quitacalzones Bridge. From there we visited Pilcopata, but due to rain there is no footage until we near Atalaya where we were to swap our bus for a boat. We headed to Pantiacolla Lodge and from there continued to our final destination at Manu Camping Lodge, and a boat trip to a parrot lick.
Species near Cock-of-the-rock lodge are yungas manakin and slaty finch. On the way to Quitacalzones Bridge we have violaceous jay, lanceolated monklet and plumbeous kite, then on the way from Pilcopata to Atalaya we have yellow-browed tody-Flycatcher. At Pantiacolla Lodge we have red howler monkey, white-browed antbird, squirrel monkey, a brief antthingy sp and white-winged trumpeter. From the boat to Manu Camping Lodge we have wood stork, horned screamer and sand-coloured nighthawk. At Manu Camping Lodge we have scarlet macaw, then finally at the parrot lick we have blue-headed parrot, a mix of blue-headed and orange-cheeked parrots, mealy parrot and red-and-green macaw.
The trip was organised by Gunnar Engblom of www.kolibriexpeditions.com based in Lima, Peru.
The anthingy breif wiew in the bamboo is most likely a the collinsi form of Yellow-breasted Warbling Antbird. The dotted wingbar and seemingly yellowish underneath are the field marks I see, apart that the bill and tail-length also fit this species. Furthermore, the habitat - bamboo tangles is perfect.
