LA CUCARACHA 1935 Santa Barbara Leo Carrillo Marihuana

Very early color clip filmed in Santa Barbara (where the El Paseo Restaurant is now) during Fiesta.. the cowboy that rides up on the horse with guns a blazing is Leo Carrillo who the Surf Spot also known as SECOS is named after. They sing the original version of La Cucaracha (the cockroach) with the lyrics mentioning Marijuana or Marihuana yet thrown in the words Santa Barbara etc, ....SPANISH.. La Cucaracha, La cucarach, ya no puede caminar porque no tiene, porque le falta marihuana pa'fumar... ENGLISH The Cockroach, the cockroach, can't walk anymore because it doesn't have, because it's lacking Marijuana to smoke.. (this is also where we got the slang ROACH for the small butt that is left of a smoked joint.. since way back when Cucaracha was also slang for marijuana.

I met Leo Carrillo when I was 10 yrs. old. I asked him if he was faster than T.V.s Wyatt Earp, aka Hugh O'Brien. He stated, " sonny I'll put 6 holes in him before he clears leather ". He was my hero. I'll never forget that monent.
