It was actually Johnny's wife June who wrote this song.

@astralhed Ahhh... so much information.

@DJGTechHL very true, can't argue with that
...just trying to say that this band as well as The Cramps took the rockabilly genre to a new level compared to what most other bands of similar genres were doing in the 80's.
Social Distortion was pretty much a hardcore band that brilliantly crossed over to create a cool rockabilly sound that was quite different from what pretty much all the other hardcore bands were doing at the time.
thx for your honest and insightful comment :)

@astralhed As much as I love both Rockabilly and Social Distortion, but seeing how Rockabilly was first formed in the 1950s, this is far from old school rockabilly.

I ****ing LOVE this cover!!! I'm gonna do a change up cover (start off making people think it's Johnny and then break out with this!) for a gig soon. Stay tuned for an awesome video! :)

@bradleyjames83 agree with you...No doubt Johnny would love this version... ;)

Fuckin awesome.
One of the all-time great covers. Great band stays faithful to the original while adapting it from one musical style (country) to another (punk rock). That's pretty much the recipe. You need all four elements from that last sentence.

I'm not a fan of country, but Cash is one I can tolerate because he was extremely talented. So, Cash's songwriting greatness + Social Distortion's punk version won my heart.
