JUSTICE OR MERCY? Copyright Byron Walker 2009
Justice is the wrinkles the hair thats turned gray
Execution of the sentence, no one here can stay
The toll thats exacted, for the ravages of time
Vice only adds to the crime.
Justice tempered with mercy, is slipping away in sleep
The reward of a good life, just passing in peace
Without labored breathing, or the darkness of the deep
When the angel comes to reap, and time no one can cheat
Mercy is life extended, with just enough pain
A reason to right wrongs, help heal those weve maimed
To seek peace and equity, for the time that remains
til confines no longer bind, and justice rules by the grave
Justice renders by the grave, time no longer can enslave
Gravity seeks to chain the dove in vain
The verdict anchors with its weight, dust mingles with the clay
The clods of the valley cover the remains
Justice renders by the grave, time no longer can enslave
Gravity seeks to chain the dove in vain
The verdict anchors with its weight, dust mingles with the clay
The clods of the valley cover the remains
A beautiful song! The kind that is played well on a porch, guitar sounds, and friends listening. 5*
