Billie Goat Hunting 2010 Idaho, 9 7/8 horns

Idaho is a great place to live and hunt. We wait all year for the hunting season to began. We look at maps and go camping during the summer to area we would like to hunt. Over the past few years we been to the Frank Church Wilderness for some awsome Mt. Goat & Ram hunts. Mountain Goats & Ram hunts we a 4 to 7 days with everthing on our backs. With that type of hunting you have to be great shape have awesome boots and gear. Your gear will be put to the test, through rain, snow and the cold. Wolf hunts are usually one day hunts in freezing weather. Getting stuck in a snow storm and getting socked in with fog you must really know where your going. We bring paper maps, GPS units with walkie talkies to help us not get lost. Cell phones do not work in the areas we hunt the canyons are too deep and too far from the digital world. Wolves are smart and avoid humans. They have great hearing and good eye sight. While hunting the Frank Church wilderness for Mt. Goats we saw many wolf tracks but no wolves. Idaho wolves travel many miles a day. That is one thing that makes them hard to hunt, they can travel. Many hunts we were hours behind their tracks but could not find them. The Frank Church Wilderness is full of wolves because of its remotness. The deer and elk we observed would graze one bite at a time and then look up. They were on the lookout at every bite. When they ran from us they would not stop running till they were out of site because the wolves have made them so scared. We observed an elk run to the Salmon river and ran upstream in the river to deep water so the wolf could not follow with its short legs compaired to the elks. During our wolf hunts we usually find a lot of wintering deer & elk, they run from us but we mean no harm to them. We are trying to help them. The wolf is here for good and there are not enought hunters to find them.
