My piston counter and 7-segment display, made in Minecraft.

I give a demonstration and an overview of my little Minecraft creation. It's nothing too special, but I am very proud of it. It uses a large contraption made of pistons, glass, wool, various redstone items, and of course, dirt, to count up in decimal. Since it is counting in decimal, it does not need to be converted, like my previous counter. It then gets broken down into the proper segments, and then into individual torches of the 7-segment display.

A big thanks goes out to TheXboxnut, who's videos greatly helped me in constructing the 7-segment display and 7-segment decoder. I never would have been able to figure that out on my own.

Any comments and questions are greatly appreciated, and I will do my best to respond back or answer questions.

  • you could also skip the decoder completely, and just use the counter instead

  • @CrzyManVideos The counter outputs only one signal. The decoder turns that signal into multiple different signals, each going to the right segments on the display. It is still necessary.

  • @SubAtomicStudios

But then you have 7 different counters, with glass and all that, wired so when the button is pressed 7 counters move, and it is wired as a decoder

  • @johntzwei so you suggest rather than having one counter and one decoder, i have 7 counters and no decoder? That would just be less efficient and slower probably.

  • Could you replace the many piston counters with one horizontal one, and a line of repeaters passing the current to the ‘active’ number?

  • @SubAtomicStudios can i get a link for the map too?

  • @techguy19 no wait forget the one below! XD

  • @techguy19 oh wait lol XD nvm

  • can u make a tutorial??

  • @SubAtomicStudios I'll give you my save file to look at. It is a bit unresponsive, but I'm sure it is just the settings with the repeaters.

I'll PM you the link, I do not think youtube allows links.

The save file is actually part of a clock. I'd love to work on the clock with you :)
