I saw a poor copy of this on YouTube and thought it deserved better treatment. John Martyn and his band performing "Angeline" at The Town & Country Club (London) as part of the "Foundations" Tour in 1986. Please visit http://johnmartyn.com for details on obtaining merchandise. John Martyn (1948-2009) R.I.P.

  • So dam evocative and pure. The beauty of this music in my opinion, apart from the excellent musical talent is the raw emotion. Music these days can be so false, and it's such a shame because music should be something for people to learn from. Nowadays people seem to be learning how to be more false but not this man! Arrangement in this song is something converging on perfection. A classic sound & love the loud aggressive solo at the end.

Unfair I never got to meet the man and hear him live!

  • I MISS THIS GUY! ..... one word.....LEGEND

  • Thank you! Love John, love the band! I also love the way you all talk about John, very moving.

  • I met him once, a gig in kilkenny in the early 90s, and I got to kiss him....a fond memory ......of the legend which is John xx

  • The word genius gets bandied about way too often. In the case of John Martyn it's fully justified. This absolutely oozes, soul and passion and beauty from every note. He was part of the soundtrack of my life and the lives of many others i'm sure. I ran into John once striding along the road in west London (Hammersmith), tall and strong, overcoat like a cloak billowing out behind him, like some Viking warrior from the mystical past. That's how I like to remember him. RIP/
