水平円網で獲物を狩るアシナガグモ幼体#2 Spiderling's Hunt On The Orb Web Pt. 2

卓上電気スタンドの直下に円網を張っているアシナガグモ幼体の狩りを横から撮ってみました。専ら小さな獲物を相手にしているせいか、走り寄って捕らえても（seizing­）、糸でラッピングすることなく網から引き離し（pulling out）、直ちに中央部（こしき）に持ち帰ってから食べます(Seize-Pull out戦略)。命綱として常にしおり糸で体を固定しているので戻るのは簡単。獲物ごとぶら下がってしゅるっと戻るのが面白くて見ていて飽きません。
網に掛かった虫は暴れるとクモに気付かれてしまうので動きを止めじっとしています（freezing）。これに対抗してクモは縦糸を脚で弾いて（plucking）付着物­の存在・位置を感知します。このとき獲物が落ちて逃がしてしまうことも多い。
Spiderling of the family Tetragnathidae stretch spider (Tetragnatha praedonia) hunting small insects trapped on the horizontal (oblique to be exact in this case) orb web. Its predatory strategy was "seize and pull out". The spider can even detect stationary preys on the web by plucking radial strings. The spider used a silk tether to return swiftly to the central hub. Recorded on late-July, 2007 in Japan.

Hi Sigma, it appears at 2:13 that the spider feels the air vibrations of the coming in insect as it turns and moves in that direction of the incoming prey. Then makes corrections after it hits the web. Fascinating! Bob
