The bass synth has been rebuilt on a circuit board and modular panel.
For this video, it was multitrack recorded from a MIDI sequencer.
All synth sounds you hear are from the arduino synth.
Using synthesizers.com Q107 filter and Q109 envelope generator.
One synth track has a delay, the rest are untreated.
Drums and percussion are mostly canned loops.
The tune is just a simple thing i did for this demo.

  • A circuit board will be available soon to do similar things. look up "neutron shield modulator"

  • Simply wow! Read trough the making-of thread at arduino.cc forum too.. very very very cool project!

  • @jjuup

Thanks!, I am making a smaller shield type thing with a 12 bit DAC (but uses internal wavetables) It does all the level conversion to be used with modular synth standard voltages.

  • Hey man this is awesome! just checking arduino audio projects, and came up with ur video...could u explain the set up in order to understand a bit what is going on, and what is actually arduino doing??

  • the arduino is a mega. it is generating the addresses for an EPROM in real time with a phase accumulator, accepting MIDI input to play notes and bends etc. outputting addresses for multiplexors, which have values for 32 potentiometers and 28 switches, output code for MAX 7221 LED driver IC, output control voltages to drive analog envelope or filter, and output sync, trigger and gate for analog stuff as well. the arduino is working hard :)

  • Epic bass sound! Better than most homebrew digital synths can produce!

  • I love this project - awesome, dude :)

  • Hello.. i am looking into building something like this.. have you documented any of this ? This is sounding so good.. i am so interested in your work..

Would be glad to hear from you.. thanks

  • Sounds better than drum-machine. Nice thing.
