My first visit to the Hall, they helped this old lady, Sweet Emma, to the piano, and I said what is this? That gal banged the box and I fell in love with the Jazz band. I have been looking for them and I found GOLD on "You Tube". Keep it going!

They played at my high school in New Orleans in 1972. I remember the talk then was jazz was in danger of dying in the city. Thankfully it did not due to people that love it and its artists. The same thing happened in 2005 when Katrina tried to kill the city itself. The human spirit is an amazing thing. Cherish what you love. It is dear.

I want to thank an old boss of mine, the late Dick Preston, for turning me on to The Preservation Hall Jazz Band back in '75. Fantastic music, thanks Dick, I know you're still listening from up there.

We were raised on this in my childhood home. Every Sunday morning, the house would be filled with Preservation Hall geniuses. We learned what to respect.

@TaftyJazz It still does. Those of us who were influenced by these gentlemen in the 60's & 70's are still playing this style. Just very hard to find because there are probably less than 100 of us doing it well and with the same spirit.
where was this filmed?
