@cambridgeanne you're actually not allowed to give verbal instructions - especially not at any really important meets like world cups or worlds or olympics... 'clapping' is allowed but that's more just cause its not really easy to regulate I think. You do definitely incur deductions at major competitions if the coach yells any verbal instruction to the gymnast
@staceybrowm I think it's okay to give instructions. I have seen footages at the world championship when the coaches actually verbally talk about "come on" or "don't lean too much on one side". The big taboo would be to physically touch the gymnasts.
I didn't think coaches were allowed to give instruction while the gymnast is performing? The coach clearly claps when she needs to release for her dismount.
Smart girl...doing transitions that hide the typical Chinese dead hang, or in this case, eliminate it all together. Love it!
