Matthew 5:44 (King James Version) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

As it turns out, I first did something about this passage when I got "excused" from my "employment" with NO GOOD REASON. I felt like one would feel if one weren't taking to hear this passage.

Pray for her? The person who preventing me from doing a very good job and earning a living with NO GOOD REASON? You must be kidding?

Nope. And ... soon I began to put this person at the Top Of My Prayer List. Guess who I know it did good for ? Me, in case you couldn't guess or more importantly, in case you've never done it.

NOW - Like so many other parts of my prayer list, this part keeps growing.

Osama Bin Laden
Michael Vick
Dick Cheney
That Tot Mom Who May Have Killed Her Beautiful 2 Year Old
The Devil Himself ... Yes Lord. Deal with the Devil on my behalf. Clearly my Number One potential enemy.

Not everybody in your prayers "has" to be an "enemy" but if there be any element of "eneminess" in my heart ... git rid of it please Lord.

my 'in':

there's this guy who used to be my close mate but after i was born-again he grew to hate me with a passion. unfortunately (or fortunately) we are in the same social circle and we get to meet everyweek! the verbal abuse, the bad feeling and evil atmosphere that arises when he is aound, i pray quietly to God to bless him and give me grace to stand firm for Him. i pray everytime i go to a meeting that i may be humble, long-suffering and patient but its really really hard.

2 Timothy 4:14 "Alexander the metalworker did me great harm; the Lord will reward him according to what he has done." I had someone sabotage me at work, but it brought the "hot coals" upon them. The longer it takes, the more the "hot coals" pile up. Their evil deeds did not go unpunished. I tell people look at it differently. It's a battlefield of the mind at times. If you constantly focus on being bitter, despairing, sad, and angry, it may cause you to forget your blessings.

Do you know, she's still At The Top Of My List

I've only really added one other ... for their benefit is the whole point ... then there's a long list of friends, family etc. who have done wonderful things for me, who pray for me and mine, who double up on those prayers .. but the gal that got me "fired" is still at the Top Of The List ... to my benefit !!!

That sounds darn good to me ...

I don't even pretend to be an expert on the subject. I only "recently" learned that God might instruct one who would listen that praying for your "enemy" .... asking God to deal with them and allowing God to do so .. not "we"

God is going to treat them well, 'cause he does, unless they are truly of the devil and then whoops .. He will deal with that too.

Not you.

i do not excuse my enemies for being not good, i just hope to God that they can somehow find a way to be good in this life or what ever is next

I have prayed for my "enemies". I hate use that word, but it sums up certain individuals who are in love with destroying you. I prayed for an ex friend who was mad because I didn't want to be friends anymore so they decided to follow me and mock me. Later on a few years later they were humbled in such a way it brought about a significant change in their character and they felt the need to apologize to me. (But I will say this "long suffering" is hard.)

The Bible also says "Rebuke the Devil and he will flee." You can ask GOD for discernment on how to address vicious attacks. The apostle Paul rebuked the evil spirit within a servant girl who was mocking him. The Bible is filled with parts where a servant of GOD rebuked a demonic entity. I have rebuked people in the church and at other times my silence in a situation was humbling for them. So GOD bless you brother and keep the faith!
