Perceptual Spectacles are essentially the framework with which we see the world. It is key that we question these frameworks, and try on other lenses. We all have implicit beliefs, which can be altered by various factors and experiences.

  • Right on man, keep getting more flexible with it.

  • @PaintedRavensong

And why am I not surprised to find you here, dear lady? Friendly places, friendly faces.

  • Very insightful. Indeed, it is one's perspective which determines their reality.

  • good point re. putting on a new pair. There are way too many people claiming that they are awake but they are following into different but equally harmful paradigms. I would add though that if you put on new perceptual spectacles that give you an accurate vision, you should stick with them - in other words, there IS a time to draw conclusions and make distinctions between accurate ideology and false ideology, but i agree that way too many people go from one false view of reality to another.

  • I really like what you are saying about trying on different spectacles and observing the world (and ourselves) via different perspectives. It is very easy to get single-minded when something resonates so strongly within us. Then, years later, we may not have the same perspective since we are in a different place on the timeline. Things to me now at 44 are completely different than 24. Perhaps with age, as in physical form, our eyes change and the spectacles automatically differ. Great video

  • good thinking! it's enlightening to switch lenses and to look through other people's spectacles, as unfamiliar as the view through these may be. it makes you humbler. i wonder though, is there a way to perceive the world aright without any filtering at all? just the suchness of what is and no lens refraction or distortion? or would perceiving reality that clearly make it too hard to walk around? maybe our lenses take in only so much for a reason? just asking, dont know all the answers :o)

  • I've experienced the changing one pair for another when reading various authors as well, it sometimes makes me wonder where the ME is in all of it, but I think we all resonate more with some ideas and find a pair of spectacles that work well for us, as long as, like you said, we take them off once in a while and try out some other stuff. Thanks, good video.

  • of course THE best 'specks' are the entheogenic ones! ;)
