I am reduced to tears everytime I watch this scene ..a Bravura performance and yes, she WAS robbed by the Oscar Academy, who hated her for her past transgressions with the Studio's she worked for...will always be Oscar's greatest bone headed Blunder's ..she was such a natural at acting...always in the moment, raw, vunerable, real ..Love it when she catches up to the musicical sync and jumps in and is as perfect as usual ...when she lost the Oscar, it hurt her deeply but came back to Triumph xo

Grace Kelly was very beautiful, but I never really caught onto her appeal. I feel her to be overrated and her acting ability is a bit weak, especially compared to Judy. Everyone knows she should've won.

Wow, I'm 20 now, and watching this as a kid, I never realized how powerful this scene was, I just knew Judy's voice was incomparable! Thanks, for sharing your gift with us, Judy! RIP

@1:21 to the end I felt like I was Oliver!!! Woah! What a talent Miss. Garland is. She's my inspiration! :)

She won. She may not have had the statue in her hands but she won. <3

Grace Kelly's performance in 'Country Girl' was exceptional and brilliant, but Judy here and this scene alone should have won her the award. She's genuinely heartbreaking, and I think 'A Star is Born' is her greatest film. But I love both actresses, they were both deserving of the nomination.

Judy Garland was robbed of the Academy Award! This scence alone should have whon it for her!
Every time that I think of Grace Kelly getting the award that year gets me mad!

its amazing how much Liza resembled her mother especially in this scene

This is especially powerful when you watch the scene immediately before this when she's receiving her best actress award and her drunk husband steals the spotlight to ask for a job.

@Vengeance509 Made me cry even now, so I guess we have different definitions of what hammy consists of. Try not to be one of those self important jerks who looks down their noses at greatness okay?

Maybe it's just me, but her acting was hammy and over-the-top here. Watch her act in, say, The Clock.
Natural.
perfect.
unhindered by self-caricature.
Don't get me wrong: all around, performance-wise, Judy ~easily~ outshown Grace Kelly...but for purely excellent dramatic acting, it was truly a close call. They cut too many of Judy's awesome *subtle* scenes in this, leaving the hammy bits. That's why it was not a 'shoe-in' on various awards nights, for Judy. Damn Warner.

I kind of understand where you're coming from. 'A Star Is Born' isn't my favourite but I LOVE 'the clock.' You're right, it is very natural and fabulous.
But she still should have won the Oscar for this movie.

I think you may be right hebneh, I think that is why this scene is so powerful. She could have been talking about herself. I love Judy and this scene is amazing, although not one of my faves. She does such a brilliant job, because it was real to her. She was an incredible person.
