@koztah We're forgetting some seriously heavy acts: Arch Enemy, The Agonist, In This Moment, KMFDM (Had one for awhile.), Jack Off Jill, Kittie (Even if you don't like them, like me.), and possibly one of the biggest Nightwish.

Of those Hanzel and Gretyl was the best example. I struggle to call L7 metal (it's more punk/alternative). All of them had cult followings but of those, Lita Ford was the only mainstream artist. Slymenstra Hymen (of GWAR) was not really a vocalist, though she did do a couple songs. She was their fire dancer. My point was that now it's ok to be a chick metal singer (probably because of Evanescence) and that it's cool. The Agonist, Otep, Arch Enemy, Walls of Jericho, Draconian, etc...

@ShogaNinja To be fair, there WERE more female-fronted metal bands before Evanescence than what Lita Ford put out .. Power Symphony, Hanzel und Gretyl, Hellion, White Skull, Holy Moses, Girlschool, Bitch, er..L7, kinda... hell, I think Gwar had a female vocalist a few times. Probably a lot more that I never heard of. The thing is, they never got any recognition. But they did exist, it's not fair to assume they didn't :P

And metal has been around for how long? A few years might be like a quarter of your life but in the span of metal's history it's a drop in the bucket.
