Gilligan's Island cast reunite for LA Children's Hospital

In 1985, most of the sitcom castaways reunited for the dedication of the Gilligan's Island waiting room at Los Angeles' Children's Hospital. Bob Denver (Gilligan), Alan Hale, Jr. (Skipper), Natalie Schafer (Mrs. Howell), Tina Louise (Ginger), Russell Johnson (Professor), and Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) joined Gilligan creator Sherwood Schwartz for the dedication.

These clips are from a KNBC report, CNN, and an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Jim Backus didn't attend the dedication (he was quite frail) but did appear in a seperate segment on the same episode of Lifestyles.

@gjc82071 Louise played Ginger on the TV show but didn't return for the three reunion movies. Judith Baldwin played the character in the first two and Constance Forslund was Ginger in the third.

Skipper was a class act. He embraced "Skipperdom" and in his final years, he went to visit ill children in hospitals--wearing his captain's hat--to reassure the kids that "the Skipper is here and everythings going to be all right." Rest in peace, Alan Hale Jr. (1918-1990)

These were real actors... I spent my child years watching these people and would take these actors any day against the plastic, xanax machines they stick to the TV now.....Plot may have been a little goofy but we still watched.

I always have to say this is my all time favorte show. At 47 years old now, I still look for it. There is no lesson to learn, no right or wrong, just plain fun. I remember when I was just home from school one day my mom insisted that I go with her "somewhere", right at the time the show was comming on. I pleaded with her not to make me miss it because I felt if I did, they would be lost forever. Wouldnt you know it, the next day, it wasnt on!!!!!!!!! I was so mad at my mom!!!!!!!

IN 1979 they did a rescue from Gilligan's island. Seven people were rescued. Isn't it strange that 3 women with 4 men , being stranded for 15 years why 10 people weren't rescued ?
