It's probably required by the company's insurance company. And if you dismount improperly, you could could get hurt. There are accidents every year (worldwide, that is).

Sorry about that. I was in a group this past Friday, and Bruce, the tour owner, was pretty strict with us about staying single file. Some of the people in this video look to be 'hotdogging' it a little bit, what with their gliding back and forth. Makes for more interesting video, though.

There are only three kinds of wheels allowed on the Sundial Bridge: wheelchairs, bikes & Segways! (Actually, according to owner of the tours, a law enacted in January of this year, you can take a Segway anywhere you're allowed to walk.)

i passed one of these groups the last time i was walking the bridge, bastards nearly ran over the top of me, stay outta their path!

They're allowed to ride on the bride, but I believe they're supposed to ride single-file and under a certain speed. Whoops...!
