two absolute monsters of subtlety. the way they ride those moments with their ears so wide open. billy higgins' passing was a huge loss for humanity. but, here and in so many touches to skin and metal he teaches us how to be honest, how to pour out just enough and how to scoop up just enough to make the oceans of the heart right.
seeing this is blessing, friends.

here is something else everybody who don't know, Charles was the out front person that helped save Billy Higgins life when he needed a transplant the first & 2nd time. A good brother who don't look for headlines, just helping to keep the legacy alive by staying in jazz after a long hiatus. a real unsung player too

@bomberbadj - could be any of 4 (maybe more) Neumann mics -- the U-67, U-87, U-87Ai (new version of U-87), or M269 ... all look alike except for badge color (not visible). I used to sell mics professionally. All are great mics.

Anyone know what the Condenser mic is that's standing four feet or so in front of Mr. Lloyd? I'd love to know!

You said it! Ears wide open ... that's the lesson for me here!
Beautiful to see them playing together.

Fantastic, as an alto player it's inspiring to hear the tenor giant on the smaller horn. Reminds me of Ornette.

Anyone know what Billies left side ride is? I imagine a vintage K, couldn't be a vintage A...

perhaps "tribute" would be a more appropriate word.
