Well, what I meant to say (though I said it wrong) was that the Shaw movies had a very classic feel, and their set pieces and costumes were visually striking and somewhat surreal.
And their stories left you watching to the end.. They were telling a story in a very unique way and visual style that just dosen't exist today.
However, one newer movie I DID like, was "Musya The Warrior", a Korean film that had great battlefield scenes and a great story. That was a good one.
You dont like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon? Another good movie is Tai Chei Master, even though it is considerably newer. I have the VHS and DVD copy of this movie.
I have the uncut subbed DVD, and after years of hearing then dubbed, it was a welcome change to hear the Venoms in their native language.
I remember this film many years ago on UHF TV as well as Saturday afternoon's Drive-In-Movie on WNEW 5 (Tri-State Area.)
The Shaw Brothers were the masters of the martial arts fantasy film, and I'd rather see THEIR films 100 times over than any of that new "wire" stuff with the flying actors and that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon stuff. The Shaws RULE!
