I guess I fail at seeing why it would matter if he is gay or not. To be honest, if you look at most established cultures you find that at some point in time there is a gap where being gay was accepted and or considered more honorable. An example of this is Japan (funny cause of the "Japanese guy" who posted) before and during the Heian Period.
