From just before the News 8 Midday newscast on Nov. 16, 2007, and definitely in daily use for a few years before that. It features a rockin' version of the ABC jingle and clearly dates from the network's yellow-and-black "TV is Good"/"We Love TV" era (around 1997-99), though I can't say whether this ID had been used with the noon news ever since then.
Within a month of this recording, Channel 8 had replaced the noon news' station ID with the "Start Here" branded one still in use today.
@edsigalaClassic WFAA made the switch to HD news in February 2007, so I'm guessing they finally got an HD-friendly ID in the "Start Here" package ABC started using that fall.
Will have to check to see if this ID's still in use - I recorded a couple of noon newscasts last month (for campaign ads) and neither one has it. You can see other affiliates' "Start Here" IDs on YouTube to get an idea of what it looks like; WFAA's had a 3D logo to match the rest of the ID.

@ShaqFlims It's probably because they were still broadcasting in Standard definition. And according to the explanation above, they probably started broadcasting in HD in late 2007... and also changed their Station ID with the switchover.
