This is a video that accompanies the song "Below" which chronicles the flooding of Flagstaff and Dead River in Maine in the 1940's. Many of the photographs are courtesy of The Dead River Historical Society in Eustis, Maine.

  • @wingnut4220 This video was part of a presentation called Dead River Ghosts that my friend and I made at Old Home Day in 2007. I posted it so people who were in the audience could share it with family and friends - I had no idea that it would reach a far wider audience. You're right that the Dead River Historical Society should receive credit for their pictures. Without their help, there would've been no video - or song for that matter. I'll try to recitify this soon. Thanks for writing.

  • So glad to see one our "own" from my home town is doing what he loves - Great story teller! Keep up the good work dude!

  • What a wonderful song and so well done. We were neighbors in Anson with Ken and Olena Taylor who were teachers in Flagstaff. They met there, taught there and married there. Ken was one of those that helped move the graves to higher ground. He was quite a Maine historian and so much was lost when we lost that dear sweet man and his wonderful wife.....thank you for this song and those memories of the Taylors.

  • i love all the songs on the Wishbones album, this song is my favorite though :)

  • Love this song & the video. It's a lovely tribute to the families of Flagstaff and the town itself. We are from Maine and have camped in Eustis for many years and swam in Flagstaff Lake.

This is not really country music. Listen to the lyrics and the story telling aspect. That is what

    song-writing is about.
