Well, quite.  I would personally have considered a few executions after the coup, but Chavez is a bit of a liberal.

Could you imagine channel 4 doing the same here in the UK? People wanted to close them down just for the race row on Big Brother with Jade Goodie & Shilpa Shetty. But it's important to note that rctv's licence was not cancelled, simply not renewed. This doesn't stop them from broadcasting on other platforms I believe.

I'd recommend watching - "The revolution will not be televised" - it's on google video. It's a must watch for anyone taking an interest in Chavez or Venezuela.

During the British general strike (1926), students were the most energetic of the scabs because at that time they were ALL from upper middle class backgrounds--toffs and chinless wonders. It is the same in Venezuela today. Spoilt, greedy, selfish brats. I hope Chavez succeeds in making higher education available to all.

RCTV's owners shouldn't only have had their license's revoked, but they should be exiled (Miami's got plenty of nice bordellos). This scum gets on "Alternative Left" TV and peddles lies in the US. I've never heard anyone say anything about the licenses the US Federal Communications Commission refuses to renew or even grant. These people are childish and do not deserve any quarter from anyone considering themselves progressive or on the left.
