The German national anthem is Deutschlandlied. Der Mond Ist Aufgegangen is a German folk song/ lullaby. I am holding our copy of the Deutschlandlied that we sang from when we had that concert on July 4th. I remember.

Well, I'm sorry, but "Abendlied" - that's the title of "Der Mond ist aufgegangen" - is a very famous German lyric by Matthias Claudius, and a lullaby, if sung with the music of Johann Abraham Peter Schulz.. The German national anthem is a lyric by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, the melody is taken from Joseph Haydn's Kaiserhymne and Kaiserquartett.
