@moshermassacre the song is called "The Mooche" a Duke Ellington number, although for the movie soundtrack was orchestrated and performed by a bunch of studio musicians working under John Barry. Great soundtrack with a lot of songs kept true to character.
I do so love musicals and the dancing and singing - plus Richard Gere's playing - is wonderful. Diane Lane, as a blonde, is stunning. Quite a beauty. There are many great movies that I have tried to watch most recently that have too much profanity in them - too much token sex (you see one scene you've seen them all I feel) - and, for me, they ruin the mood and the quality of the storyline. Great music can make up for a lot though for me. Thanks for posting this. - Paula
