IIRC, the reason why he doesn´t wear his armour in this form is that the original 80ies toy was packaged like that, with his chestplate down in the corner - nice little nod to the original figures. Enjoyed the review a lot! :)

I eventually, if I can build enough confidence, plan to take the backpack apart and try to work out some sort of rig where it'll be more like the original.

It's a nice touch, but could have been done so much better.

Ok now everyone keeps saying the original had a retractable rope. I have the original and I hate to say that it DID NOT have a retractable rope. The gimmick worked when you pulled the bottom, he scaled up the rope. The original still had all the extra rope on it. And worse, the grappling hook just dangled off the back along with the bottom tab, so the new one is just missing the pulley system that makes the gimmick work, but it won't hide the rope.

the first webstor did not have a button but you could pull the cord and he would slide up
