The noise indicate that it´s not a roll ;)

This seems to be a roll rather than an actual recording, but I can't be sure.

The notes are having a party and Rachmaninov is buying

nobody can play like this. his touch is so amazing.

Metronomic, steady time. No humor (which is what the piece is all about--with its extra (5th) measure tacked on to the expected 4-bar groups in the main theme). Little use of dynamics. Little imagination. Rachmaninoff played even better in other things.

Sort of the thing he'd have said. He didn't have high regard for many of his contemprory pianists also.
Read somewhere, some one asked him why he didn't give interviews, because other people would love to here his views and he replied something like "I was taught not to lie and I can't tell the truth" because he knew his opinions would offend few people.

yeah it sounds like

Hofmann recorded this too. is this a pianoroll? I'd like to see this music! the left hand and octaves u realize the difficulty of this happy little piece .Hofman the greatest pianist EVER RECORDED actually made a less succesful take than this.I would love to hear Fanny B.Zeisler.Can someone tel me why caruso sounds good pre electric but pianists dont.Very few made recs in the teens.

Rubinstein claimed a lot of things, much of it untrue.

Arthur Rubinstein claims he overheard Rach make the remark (in a private conversation): "Moszkowski's music is shit." Yes, he supposedly used the S-word!
To me it sounds like Mozkowski was winking at the Butterfly Etude by Chopin (a composer he was often compared to!)

1 of the most pronounced pronounced character
istics of Sergei's play is the ever furious accelerandi on the Sforzandi.Good luck finding it today in performance.
