There are many obstacles in life, which bring you down; today we have with us, Adhil Abdullah, a freshman in architecture.

Adhil suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage in 2008, for those of you who do not know what a cerebral hemorrhage is, it is a bleeding inside your brain which causes a clot, this cerebral hemorrhage caused half of his body to be paralyzed.

Hello Adhil.

Hello Azmi.

Would you like to talk a little about, your ambition before coming to university?

Well after I graduated from... and that's what I wanted to do.

Adhil, what made you choose architecture over all the other majors offered in American university of Sharjah?

The decision to study in college... I have to do architecture.

The decision for you to do architecture was completely your mother's, did you have a say in what you wanted to do, did you tell your mother that you wanted to do computer engineering or computer science, did you ever mention it to her?

Yes, but... argue with my mother.

About the cerebral hemorrhage, when exactly did this take place, would you like to say it in more detail please?

Like everyday... there was a football tournament... I reached university... I had a headache... because they say I fainted.

Then you were admitted in hospital, how long were you in the hospital?

I was transferred to Dubai... coma for a month... I started recovering.

How is life different from before, now that the left side of you is paralyzed, and it is becoming better, and how is it different from before from the time you were playing football?

Well, back then I was just a child... I can make my decision better according to it.

Even with such a disability, you opted for architecture over all the other majors offered, is this because you are so passionate about the major?

You cannot actually call it a disability... and making my decisions better... I have to live... this is how I want to earn while I am living.

What have you learnt, or learning during this recovery.

Well quite a bit actually... new thoughts.. Which is helping me become a better person.

Thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you soon, wish you all the good luck in your major, and your life, thank you once again.

Some complain about the simplest obstacles, while others live through daily pain, with courage and expectations, this was the story of Adhil Abdullah.

This is Azmi Shams, signing off from American University of Sharjah.
