Am 8.Mai 1982 kollidert der Ferrari von Gilles Villeneuve während des Qualifying zum Großen Preis von Belgien 1982 in Zolder nach einem Missverständnis mit dem March von Jochen Mass. Nach einem Horrorflug von mehr als 100 Metern knallte der Ferarri auf den Asphalt. Beim Aufprall riss die Gurthalterung. Villeneuve wurde aus dem Cockpit geschleudert und brach sich das Genick. Abends um 21.12 Uhr hörte das Herz des Kämpfers auf zu schlagen
